One of Boston’s most popular events is just around the corner. The 2022 Boston Triathlon will take place on July 23rd with many people who participate in the triathlon to test their stamina or support a cause. If you’re interested in booking a trip to the Boston Triathlon, here are six things you need to know.
1. The Course
The Boston Triathlon consists of three events: swim, bike, and run. The swim course starts and finishes on DCR Carson Beach near the DCR McCormack Bathhouse. The flat loop bike course is on a number of wide, car-free roads, including DCR William Day Blvd. The run course offers views of the harbor and the Boston Skyline. It is a loop course that finishes back at DCR Mother’s Rest Field.
2. The Official Race Charity Partner
The Official Race Charity Partner is Boston Medical Center. They have served as the Official Race Charity Partner for six years as of 2022.
Fundraising efforts will help to advance health equity.
3. Important Rules To Follow
There are some important rules that must be followed during the triathlon.
During the bike leg, wear your helmet, ride on the right side of your lane and keep three bike lengths between yourself and the cyclist in front of you.
You must also wear the colored swim cap provided to you at packet pickup. Finally, personal music players and headphones are not allowed.
4. How To Watch The Race
5. Equipment Needed
For the swim portion of the race, you will be provided with a swim cap. However, you must bring your own goggles and wet suit.
For the bike portion of the event, you must bring a helmet with a chinstrap. Bike rentals are not available from the race, but you can rent a bike from an outside vendor.
6. You Buy, We Give Youth Membership
On May 11th, USA Triathlon announced its You Buy, We Give Youth Membership which promises to match every USA Triathlon adult membership purchased in May and June by donating one youth membership back.
The Boston Triathlon will be entirely free for all participating kids, as USA Triathlon is providing free USA Triathlon memberships and Amazon will cover all registration costs for participants.
